If using a scan tool, follow tool manufacturer instructions to clear Codes. There are several ways to clear ECU error codes. If the same code and CEL comes back, you should investigate the problem. If you have a scanner, you can use it to turn off the error codes. Some high end scanners will tell you both the code and the definition, but many simply tell you the code.
You will need an OBDII scanner in order to pull the error codes. There is a table of OBDII codes at the end of this page to reference. Clearing the codes will turn off any check engine lights (aka: SEL, CEL, SES, etc.). It should also work for any of the current generation Nissan and Infiniti vehicles.
